One of the many useful features we have added to
Omnistar Affiliate tracking software is the Link Tracking
function. Link tracking allows affiliates to append
a short tracking code onto links in order to sort
the traffic they are sending based on its source.
This service in turn allows affiliates to assess
the effectiveness of each ad and improve the quality
of their traffic, which benefits both affiliate and
site owner.

|
STEP 1: Locate your affiliate link
The first step to using a tracking link is to find
your affiliate link, it should look something like
this:
http://www.yourdomain.com/demo_aff1/redir.php?id=52_1
|
STEP 2: Add tracking code
Determine what you want your tracking code to be,
then add the text (with no spaces) to the end of the
link, like so:
http://www.webetools.com/demo_aff1/redir.php?id=52_1_Google_Ad
In this example, traffic would be coded with the
label Google_Ad
|
STEP 3: Deploy the link
You should then add the link to your site or to google
adwords, in the case of the example, so that traffic
flows through it to the owner of the affiliate program.
|
STEP 4. Track traffic
Now if you go to the Reports page and view Affiliate
Link Tracker reports, you will be able to search your
traffic and see which traffic came from which link.
This can help affiliates determine the success rate
of different link sources.
