Omnistar Affiliate Software Paypal Integration

If you are going to use Omnistar Affiliate Program with Paypal it is important to follow the instructions below and to read the last paragraph below.

To ingrate Omnistar Affiliate Software with your website using Paypal IPN method please follow the following directions:

1. Login to paypal.com

2. Click on Profile (It is on the sub menu, below the tabs)

3. “Selling Preferences” there is a link “Instant Payment Notification” click on this link.

4. Turn on Instant Payment Notification and also set the “Instant Payment Notification (IPN) URL” to:

http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/affiliate/paypal_plugin.php

Note: “www.YourDomain.com” and “affiliate” should point to your domain name and directory of installation respectively.

5. You should generate a paypal button and when you generate the paypal button make sure it is NOT encrypted.

Important when you generate the button make sure it includes the following lines:

<input type="hidden" name="notify_url" value="http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/affiliate/paypal_plugin.php">
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/affiliate/getaff.php"></script>

Note: “www.YourDomain.com” and “affiliate” should point to your domain name and directory of installation respectively.

VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE PAYPAL IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW:

When a purchase is made using Paypal it will send the information back to your affiliate program and log the sale.

If you use Paypal then DO NOT add code to the final step in the buying process. For example in our getting started wizard we give instruction for adding code to the “Thank you page” or the final step in the buying process. However, if you are using Paypal, then do not do this step, because it is not required because your sale will get posted and the commission will get logged as soon as the sale is completed on Paypal and before they even return to your site because Paypal will send the information to your affiliate program, so there is no need to add code to the “Thank You” Page.

Additional TIPS

If you are using paypal to process your payments and are concerned with the fact that the paypal button code has to be regular html code and not encrypted, here's an alternative solution to this issue. Try using software like webforantispam to encrypt your forms and email addresses for your sites. Once you encrypt the paypal button with the line of code from the affiliate software, do a test purchase and it will still work as usual.
